Lemb Zaar is an annual cultural festival celebrated by the Zaar people of Tafawa Balewa and Bogoro communities in southern Bauchi state (northern Nigeria). It is a festival designed purposely to express gratitude to Chongvon (God the creator) for protection over the year and for the new harvest. It is normally held every November when major farm operations were over and what was left was the harvest, the good signs of which had been seen. The Zaar people express thanks to almighty God for making it possible to eat another new crop.

The lemb Zaar festival was the most important festival among the Zar (Sayawa)… During the lemb Zaar, food was prepared in abundance and taken to designated areas, where people had gathered. Farm implements like big hoe, small hoe and axe were sprinkled with a pulp made from guinea corn known as (shangbor). The pulp was sprinkled on houses. The festival normally last for more than two weeks. Youth could move to another village singing and dancing for a week…

The festival has been enhanced and improved with several attractive events such as masquerade dances, hunting exhibitions, display of beautiful cultural attires and seminar presentations.
